Over 500 people enjoyed our picnic and fun day on Sunday 10th June to celebrate 150 years of East Greenwich Pleasaunce (see photo album, right, for more pictures).
Families from the entire community of East Greenwich converged on the small but historic park to enjoy the glorious weather, a leisurely picnic and the free-flowing 'Pleasaunce Punch' - a particularly popular rum-based cocktail.
The excellent Nostalgia Steel Band (above) provided the musical backdrop to a range of other entertainments, including circus skills, a fire engine, and a celebratory balloon release.
As ever, the cake and book stalls proved very popular, and this year there was also a Treasure Hunt, enthusiastically taken up by the children.
Annandale road local Charles Roper-Medhurst made a splendid cake to mark the occasion and after singing happy birthday it was cut up and shared out. Only the icing plaque remained...
