Some three-to-four hundred people made the most of the glorious sunshine on Sunday 4th June and came to our inaugural 'Picnic in the Park'. It was a rip-roaring success and hopefully the first of many future events in the Pleasaunce.
Local families and residents got stuck into the rum punch (see recipe below!) the cakes, football, jazz, cricket and face painting with great enthusiasm and took time to find out more about the Friends of East Greenwich Pleasuance and what we do. In fact over 100 new members signed up, setting the total rocketing towards 200.
This is great news: the more people who join the more clout we have with the Council to ensure that our local park is looked after and enhanced.
The fun afternoon also gave people a chance to meet their new community police officers, the fire service, and, of course, coaching staff from Charlton Athletic FC.
So a massive 'THANK YOU' to all of you who came along and supported your local community, helping to make the day such a great success.
We would particularly like to thank The Vanburgh who generously supplied much of the booze, and:
