Michael Rosen, the celebrated children's author and former children's laureate, entertained 300 school children in East Greenwich Pleasaunce last week.
Rosen treated the excited children from Halstow. St. Jospeh's and Christchurch schools to a number of his funny, onomatapoeic poems and had them joining in and remembering the verses with ease.
But the highlight was a performance of his most famous book, 'We're going on a bear hunt', loved by children throughout the world.
Undeterred by high winds and spattering rain the author and the children (not to mention local councillors and parents) had a wonderful time.
The event was organised by the Friends of East Greenwich Pleasaunce and formed part of the PARKSfest series of events talking place throughout the Borough's parks and open spaces.
