The Farmer's Market is moving to Halstow School for the next two months as a trial alternative venue to the Pleasaunce.
Although the last Market in the Pleasaunce was undoubtedly a success and enjoyed by most residents, there were still issues with damage to grass and difficulties of access for the stallholders who had to park in Sainsbury's some distance away.
On balance the Friends of East Greenwich Pleasaunce Committee thinks the school will be a better, more practical and less contentious venue. We're glad Chris Elder, the Farmer's Market operator, and Mary Whitehead, Hasltow Head, have agreed to work together.
There has been some concern that this might divert business away from the cafe, but we're hopeful that with good marketing and good will on all sides the arrangement should still be mutually beneficial.
